New functionality offered at no-charge to fight rising threats of phishing and ransomware and shore up the “weakest link in security: users

KnowBe4, the most popular and fastest growing security awareness and simulated phishing platform, announced new functionality for customers and anyone using G Suite (formerly called Google Apps for Work). Growing use of cloud email shows G Suite has gained traction, especially with companies under 50 million, according to analyst firm Gartner. Consequently, KnowBe4 developed functionality that allows users to identify and send suspected phishing emails to IT or their incident response team for follow up with one simple click. Known as Phish Alert, it allows KnowBe4 customers the ability to identify simulated phishes, reinforcing their new-school security awareness training.

Stu Sjouwerman, CEO of KnowBe4 stated, “We’ve seen a steady surge in ransomware this year, expected to be 4 times 2015. New-school security awareness training is no longer a ‘nice to have’ but a necessity. We wanted to provide IT managers using G Suite with the ability to effectively manage the problem of social engineering by offering a simple way to easily identify and segregate a suspected phish. This functionality is available for businesses using Outlook, Office 365 and now G Suite.”

Phish Alert gives users a safe way to forward email threats to the security team for analysis and deletes the email from the user's inbox to prevent future exposure and now works for Gmail users with G Suite using Chrome.

Benefits of Phish Alert include:

  • Reinforces your organization's security culture
  • Incident Response gets early phishing alerts from users, creating a network of “sensors”
  • Email is deleted from the user's inbox to prevent future exposure
  • Easy deployment via MSI file for Outlook, G Suite deployment for Gmail (Chrome)
  • Supports: Outlook 2007, 2010, 2013, 2016 & Outlook for Office 365, Exchange 2013 & 2016, Chrome 54 and later (Linux, OS X and Windows)
